The AHES Mentoring Committee is holding the annual AHES Speed Mentoring Workshop for Early- and Mid-Career Researchers/Academics (EMCRs/EMCAs) and PhD students in Health Economics through an online forum. This workshop is open to all interested in health economics career development and will include the following sessions:
- Presenter 1: Christine Pollicino (Roche) - Crossing Sectors: A Health Economist’s Career Path from Academia to Pharma via Private Health Insurance.
- Presenter 2: Rory Atchison (Healthscope) - A Health Economist's Role in Healthcare Funding and Financing
- Panel session with Professor Louisa Collins (Cancer Council Queensland) & Jack Hennessy (The Fred Hollows Foundation).
Topic: “Beyond Government and Academia: The Role of Health Economists in NGOs”
In addition, there will be several breakout sessions, where mentees will be placed into small groups with one or more experienced health economists and given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss career progression and other aspects in a 'speed mentoring' format.
The session will run on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. AEST and is open to all. Details on how to access the online workshop will be sent to registrants prior to the workshop.
